| Greetings,
Our friends at 55 Kip Center have just completed the third quarter grant period with us. I have included below the report of activities I received from the Volunteer Coordinator as to how our funds are being deployed to educate the women in our program and expand their program of volunteers.
OUTLINE OF ACTIVITIES 07/08 THRU 09/08:
1) Kip Kares: Research topics and coordinate weekly meetings:
a) Household Budget
b) Cooking for One
c) Know Your Medications
d) Website Interaction
e) Women’s Health
f) Getting Organized
Guest speakers (including WUiP members), lunch, informational packets and/or “giveaways” provided for each meeting. Ten regulars have attended the last 4 workshops and each week two or three additional members come in.
2. Coordination with Joyce O’Connor for preparation of Kip manual.
3. Create and distribute volunteer solicitation card. Distributed at numerous business locations throughout the Kip community.
4. Leaf Project: Coordinate with Borough Clerk regarding senior compliance with new leaf bagging ordinance. In the process of procuring assistance from local scout troops, etc.
5. Coordinate with local business to assist resident with property maintenance to avoid future citations.
6. Research cost and development of Kip community referral website.
7. Caring for You/Caring For Me workshop held weekly at St. Joseph’s Church in East Rutherford with 11 women attending. We have one more workshop which will be completed in the 4th quarter.
We are really making a difference in the lives of Senior Women in Bergen County!
