| Zoe's Place is awarded the Women United in Philanthropy's 3rd Annual Grant award on October 16, 2008 for their program "The Cupcake Factory".
Zoe's Place was founded in 2005 to provide safe, supervised housing and supportive services for homeless pregnant teens, teen mothers, and their babies. The mission of the agency is to help these girls develop the skills and competencies they need to thrive as healthy, self-sufficient and financially independent women.
The WUiP grant will be used as venture capital to launch an innovative social enterprise business called "The Cupcake Factory", a retail/wholesale/Internet marketing bakery business providing freshly baked goods (cupcakes) as both a revenue-generating business and an educational/job training program for the young women in their program.
Stay tuned for more information on how you can get involved in this exciting new endeavor! |
