| There has been a lot of activity at 55 Kip Center ! Here are some of the activities that our grant has assisted with:
- The volunteer base continues to build.
- Workshops and informal support groups are being established to assess the needs of the women and then helping them find resources.
- Our volunteers continue to work through the list of women who requested help in their home with general clean up or maintenance using KIP's Pairs that Care group.
- The Caring for You program is on-going and is reaching out to women in surrounding communities as well as KIP's membership. When the 5 week program ends, they have been successful in encouraging them to join the Kip Center for socialization, resources and classes.
- A Volunteer Manual is under way as well as brochures and volunteer training.
- A “hotline” will be called Kip Kares where information will be put together and shared.
- An August workshop on budget and banking is scheduled.
In May the first 5 week “Caring For You/Caring For Me” support group was completed. In order to keep this group active in 55 Kip programs, ongoing "get togethers" will be held where a guest speaker will discuss topics prevalent to caregivers as well as women who find themselves alone after caring for a loved one. Here is a place that 55 Kip can use our help. If you can help out and present on one of these topics please let Cathy Lowden know and she will put you in contact with Cathy Baviello the volunteer coordinator at 55 Kip Center. The requested topics are:
- On-line Food Shopping
- "Cooking For One"
- Job Seeking Skills
- Volunteer Opportunities
- "A Change of Place" selling real estate
- Household budget
A few of you previously volunteered to speak on one of these topics and your information was passed on. Cathy Baviello will be reaching out to you as she schedules these meetings.
Our grant is helping to improve the lives of KIP's older adult women and keep them independent and living in their homes longer!
