2007 Grant Award

The Inter-Religious Fellowship for the Homeless of Bergen County was awarded the first Women United in Philanthropy grant of $50,000 in October of 2006.

IRF is the only organization in Bergen County helping working homeless families to overcome personal crisis and return to self sufficiency.

Our grant provided a home for a single mother and her four children for one year and with the help of our members, we painted, prepared, and completely furnished the home for the families’ arrival.  Our grant also provided support to IRF’s Englewood shelter by providing computer equipment to assist adults in job training and searching as well as fundamental support to children in the after school program. Additional components of our grant included case management for families, financial literacy workshops, and 7 “Break the Cycle” scholarships were awarded for higher education.
