$70,000 grant awarded!

On the evening of October 15th, Women United in Philanthropy members , friends and guests gathered to celebrate the awarding of our fourth grant in the amount of $70,000.  By membership vote, the grant was awarded to the Women's Rights Information Center of Englewood, www.womensrights.org.  The grant is funding Project STARS:  Successful Transition and Achievement for Returning Servicewomen.  The goal of this project is to foster the transition and advance the achievement of servicewomen returning to Northern New Jersey following deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan.  The three areas of focus of the project are:  Academic Preparedness for those who plan to take advantage of the GI Bill education subsidies, Career Services for those wanting to seek and obtain employment, and Legal Assistance for those facing child custody or other family law issues.
